Nova Scotia Power Reopens Customer Service Centre in Stellarton

Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada, Sept, 2017 -- Nova Scotia Power customers in Pictou County who want to talk to a "real person" now have the chance.

Earlier this summer Nova Scotia Power reopened four community service centres across the province including one in Stellarton.

The goal, the company states, is to provide customers with another service option, and to improve their overall experience.

The Stellarton location at 26 Bridge Ave. is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.

"It’s really about giving customers another way to do business with us," says senior communications adviser Maeghan Murphy.

She said the company views this as a way to rebuild relationships with customers.

"However the customers wants to interact with us, we want to meet with them there," she said, adding that could be through digital customer service, in person or over the phone.

Customers will be able to do everything from arranging a service connection and paying bills to learning about programs for installing heat pumps in their homes.

Kim Barkhouse has been working in the job since the service centre reopened and said she is thankful of the opportunity to work and raise her son in her own community.

"People are pleased to have a place where they can come talk to us in person, make a payment, see it go on their account, and then have that worry off their mind. Particularly customers such as seniors and those who don’t regularly use the internet," she said.

Since the Stellarton centre reopened, more than 120 customers have been served by Barkhouse and her co-workers, but they’d like to see more.

"Whenever we see someone new come in, we ask them to tell their friends and family about us," she said with a smile. "We want people to know that we’re here; here in their community, ready to serve them."
