Canberra, Australia, Sept, 2017 -- Datacom's contact centre subsidiary has landed a contract with the Australian Taxation Office to provide business process outsourcing services for the next three years.
Datacom Connect joins Serco, Probe Group and Stellar Asia Pacific in the combined deal, which will run from 1 November this year to 29 February, 2020.
The ATO will look to outsource some of its functions, including call centre/customer relations, accounting, payroll and human resources.
Also renewed were Serco's and Stellar’s contracts. Probe Group is the newest addition.
The report also cited the reduction of the department’s internal staff, with the Community & Public Sector Union claiming that about 4000 roles have been reduced between 2013 to 2016. It also estimated that a fifth of the ATO’s workforce is now made up of outsourced labour.
Datacom previously signed a deal with the Western Australian government as part of the GovNext initiative, and was also linked to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s seamless traveller’ initiative.
