Convergys Inaugurates its First Customer Service Center in Mauritius

Port Louis, Mauritius, Sept, 2017 -- Convergys, a global provider of customer experience outsourcing, celebrated the inauguration of its new site in Ebène Mauritius.

From this new customer service center, Convergys already employs over 100 people to handle customer service calls for a major French online retailer.

The inauguration was attended by local dignitaries, including the honourable Yogida Sawmynaden, Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, Ken Poonoosamy, Managing Director, Board of Investment, members of Convergys’ EMEA and local leadership teams, as well as senior client executives.

Congratulating Convergys, the honourable Yogida Sawmynaden said "The development of infrastructure and connectivity with major global economic centers make Mauritius "the Digital Island" and a platform of excellence for ICT and BPO. It is pleasing that so many large international companies have chosen to invest in Mauritius, and have settled successfully on the island.

"In addition, the Mauritians' sense of welcome and service, combined with their ability to converse in both French and English make them the ideal agents for customer services and distance selling activities".

Ken Poonoosamy, Managing Director, Board of Investment of Mauritius adds "We are pleased that BOI has played an instrumental role in attracting Convergys to Mauritius, another major global organization with the potential to create hundreds of new jobs and contribute significantly to the local economy".

Rémy Béal, Group VP Operations EMEA at Convergys, said: "We are proud to open the doors of our new facilities in Mauritius and thank the Mauritius government for their continued support.

"This new site further enhances our service offerings for both French and English-speaking markets. The operations for our first French client have already begun successfully and other global clients have already expressed interest in carrying out part of their operations here.

"We value the highly skilled workforce and the strong work ethic of people in Mauritius, and we are looking forward to delivering exceptional value for our clients – as well as rewarding career opportunities for our employees".
