Sometimes the tendency of managers is to jump in with a solution when a problem occurs. It is worth asking what caused the problem and what is the potential effect of the solution in the business. For example, if motivation is low and you jump in with an incentive scheme, you may find that any increase in motivation is short-lived. It’s better to find the cause rather than just treat the symptoms so that any solution has a chance of being a longer-term fix!
