2010 Storage Visions to Increase Visibility of Junk-A-Juke Program

Ottawa, Canada - December 30, 2009 - KOM Networks™, provider of storage management solutions for secure archiving compliant data protection and retention, today announced that KOM will be entering a program to educate IT professionals about an innovative storage hardware recycling program to benefit Feed The Children.

The Junk-A-Juke program will keep end-of-life (or just old) computer storage systems out of landfills and use recycled materials to do something big for someone small. KOM and its recycling partner, the Technology Conservation Group (TCG) will pick up and track each piece of equipment through destruction to ensure that nothing ends up in a landfill. In exchange for the older equipment, KOM offers a new Dell Powered KOMpliance Archive with equal capacity and superior performance, a fully compliant enterprise class server and archive solution free-of-charge, with a three year maintenance agreement. KOM’s goal is to collect and recycle enough hardware to feed one million children.

"With older storage systems being difficult to dispose of, KOM is taking a problem area and using it to do something truly philanthropic - they are making lemonade," said Tom Coughlin, President of Coughlin Associates. "Storage Visions is the ideal forum to target the storage industry decision makers. We are more than happy to serve lemonade for such a worthwhile cause."

Charitable giving fell last year by the largest percentage in five decades, according to a study by the Giving USA Foundation. With this program, KOM is making it effortless to responsibly discard obsolete hardware and help feed many of the twelve million North American children who are today at risk of going hungry.
