Health Insight Solutions Telemonitoring System Powered By Loquendo

Munich, Germany - July 4, 2008 - Loquendo, a speech technology company and Health Insight Solutions, a developer of telemonitoring systems – today announced that Health Insight has chosen Loquendo TTS - through Loquendo’s German distributors INLOQ Voice Solutions - to power their "black box" system.

The HIS Telemonitoring system from Health Insight Solutions innovatively improves quality of life with non-intrusive, home based health monitoring. The product, which communicates with its users through Loquendo speech technologies, was developed with elderly people in mind. It leverages a web-based portal to manage critical data, which is monitored and analysed 24/7. The Health Insight Box collects the user’s health data (e.g. blood pressure, weight, oxygen levels, ECG, etc.) and environmental information (e.g. temperature, humidity, smoke, etc.) through wireless sensors and sends it to the Health Insight Portal via DSL, GPRS, Ethernet or Analog Modem. The data managed by the system is thoroughly security protected and is also stored locally for a period of time.

The HIS Box explains each measurement procedure in a natural, clear and friendly way, with the voice of Loquendo TTS. Elderly users have proved extremely satisfied with the ease of interaction brought by the speech interface of this lifesaving system.

Each patient’s files are configured specifically to meet individual needs: the system ensures that measurement parameters stay within certain limits, failing which an alarm is automatically set off. In such cases, the system alerts medical staff or designated individuals. The persons to be contacted can be medical personnel, social workers or family and friends. The notification can be sent in a variety of formats: SMS, e-mail, voicemail, etc. The system notifies the portal that an alarm has been received and dealt with.

Loquendo TTS comes with an easy to use interface - TTS Director - which allows users to simply and quickly edit prompts, to synchronise music or sound effects with speech, to adjust the speaking rate, pitch, etc., and to insert phonetic transcriptions with a user friendly tool - the Lexicon Editor. Voice Creator enables the creation of personalised voices - to match company profile and enable market differentiation.
