News : ACS to Hire 450 for Colorado Springs Call Center
October 27, 2010 - Affiliated Computer Services announced plans Wednesday to hire another 450 people for its fast-growing call center operation in Colorado Springs, which will bring the number employed at the year-old call center to more than 1,200.
The call center at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road, which handles calls for a leading wireless provider that the company has not identified, is also still trying to hire 50 people for an earlier expansion announced in June. The new positions include customer and technical support agents, trainers and supervisors and pay a starting wage of $10 an hour during the four- to six-week training period and $11 after, said Mike Stann, regional vice president for ACS Business Process Solutions group.
"Colorado Springs is a great location for our business, where we find a nice mix of talent, energy, strong education and growth opportunity," Chris Tranquill, senior vice president and group president of ACS Business Process Solutions, said in a news release.
Applicants are encouraged to apply online at www.acs-inc.com or visit the ACS recruiting office at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road, Suite D-3, during business hours. In addition, ACS is hosting an open house for job candidates at the recruiting office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 6. The company is looking for high-school graduates with good customer-service skills and prefers, but does not require, previous call center experience, Stann said.
ACS is doubling the space it is leasing from Verizon Business to more than 60,000 square feet, two floors in one of Verizon’s buildings, to accommodate the expansion and expects to begin moving into the additional space next month, Stann said.
"The growth at ACS is exciting news, especially for those hired prior to the holidays, certainly making this a happier season for many in our community," said Mike Kazmierski, president of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corp.
ACS, acquired in May by copier giant Xerox, is adding about 2,000 employees at call centers in Lexington, Ky.; Olympia, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C., and Salt Lake City to serve two clients in the wireless communications industry the company did not identify. Dallas-based ACS operates 150 call centers worldwide employing more than 34,000 agents who handle more than 1 million customers a day in 20 different languages.
