News : BT to Create 300 Call Centre Jobs in Accrington

April 11, 2012 -- Telecoms group BT is to create 300 jobs in Lancashire when it opens a new call centre in Accrington town centre.
The company worked with Lancashire County Council to find suitable offices in the county and the centre is now expected to open in the autumn.
They are already working together on a project to install "superfast" broadband - defined as speeds of 24Mbps or higher - across Lancashire.
The council is also working with BT to roll broadband out to rural areas.
Geoff Driver, leader of the county council, said: "We're obviously delighted BT has recognised what Lancashire has to offer to businesses.
"We've helped it find suitable accommodation, but ultimately BT wants to come to Lancashire because of the skills and expertise we already have here.
"This builds on the county council's long-term partnership with BT.
"These jobs will help to boost the county's economy and create some excellent opportunities for local people."
