News : Call Centre to Hang Up on Staff

Feb 16, 2012 -- A Dartmouth call centre is poised to lay off some employees.
On Wednesday, Cincinnati-based Convergys told workers at its Highfield Park Drive location that one of the company’s clients will be closing a customer-service wing with the company.
The service will be rolled back between the end of February and mid-April.
In a written statement, Convergys spokeswoman Amy Williams said the company expects many of the employees will qualify to work from home.
A phone interview was declined.
"Employees who do not transition to another position will receive professional support through Convergys’ Employee Assistance Program," she wrote.
How many jobs will be affected is not known.
