Jan 21 2011 -- Workers at an Irvine call centre have lined up a fortnight of activities to help colleagues left devastated by the Aussie floods.
The 282 staff at the Stellar call centre at the Riverside Business Park will be holding a coffee morning, a book, CD and DVD sale, an Australian quiz, bring and buy sale and a raffle to raise money for their counterparts in Queensland.
The cash will go to their fellow workers in Brisbane, which is one of the worst hit areas.
The following week, staff will be allowed dress down for work if they pay £2.50 for the privilege.
They can also choose to make a donation from their salary or even make a donation at collection points.
Stellar boss Mary Graham said: "The devastation caused by the flooding in Queensland and the impact it is having on our colleagues across our sites is overwhelming, especially as we know some of these individuals personally from our visits over there. "Our Brisbane site has been evacuated and employees relocated to other areas.
"Many have felt the impact personally with loss or damage to their homes and possessions. It was with this in mind we decided on these activities to help raise funds."
Stellar have also been in contact with their UK based clients to ask for donations to their appeal.
