Sept 12, 2011 -- Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Martin Sharrock as its chief technology officer for Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Sharrock brings a wealth of global technology experience to the role. He started his career at Britain's Ministry of Defence, and recently has held a range of chief tech officer roles: for Alcatel's mobile communications group in the Asia Pacific region, chief tech officer for Japan, and for Alcatel-Lucent New Zealand and Pacific Islands from 2009-11.
"Australia and New Zealand are at the forefront of high-speed broadband innovation and I am very excited by the prospect of working with our customers as they plan their future in this environment," Mr Sharrock says.
Alcatel-Lucent has a history of technology research based on its Bell Labs innovation engine. In Australia, it is involved in partnerships such as the Centre for Energy Efficient Telecommunications at the University of Melbourne, and Alcatel-Lucent University at the University of Technology, Sydney.
