Olean Call Center Alters Layoff Plans

Feb 3, 2012 -- Ten jobs have been restored and some layoffs postponed by a month at an Olean call center.

Data Listing Services LLC, doing business as The Connection, filed an update with the state Department of Labor regarding 32 jobs that were previously slated for termination.

Based in Burnsville, Minn., the company provides inbound call center services, including customer service, technical support and sales services.

The company rescinded 10 of the terminations, while some layoffs for the remaining 22 jobs were postponed by a month to occur on March 15.

John Meier, vice president and chief financial officer, said the company was able to add some client contracts at the site, and is still working to pursue additional contracts for both the Olean and Jamestown facilities.

A year ago, the company had 326 employees at the site when it filed notice with the DOL it would layoff 144 employees after losing a contract. Meier says the site currently employs about 150, while the Jamestown facility employs more than 300.

Founded in 1981, The Connection reported 2010 revenue of $40.6 million and total employment of 1,599 on the Inc. 5000 list. Besides Minnesota and New York, the company also has operations in Illinois and Nebraska.
