The auto insurance group is looking to fill 108 call center jobs and 23 information technology and analyst jobs at its Mayfield Village headquarters. Progressive announced last September it had openings for 260 customer service representatives. In June, it announced plans to hire another 125. The company has 8,900 employees in Northeast Ohio, about the same as last September, so the recent hiring has been largely to fill openings, not new positions. "Now we're at a time and place where we feel more comfortable bringing more folks on again," said company spokeswoman Leah Knapp. The call center work pays $12 to $15 an hour, plus benefits. Representatives sell policies, answer customer questions and help customers file claims after car accidents. The jobs require a minimum of two years' post-secondary education or two years' experience in customer service. The analyst jobs involve pricing and product analysis. Candidates must have a BA in finance, math, accounting, economics, statistics or the equivalent. Knapp said the IT and analyst positions pay "market rates, based on experience."
