Global businesses as well as governments have to contend with ever-increasing volumes of information for communicating with their customers, at the same time as dealing with translation budgets that cannot grow at the same rate. The internet drives this information growth and increases the demand for rapid translation of content. Machine translation used on its own and combined with human translation can address some of these needs, but which are acceptable and considered practical by global businesses and the translation industry? The SDL survey results will answer these questions. Survey entries are welcomed and encouraged from all: • Industry sectors, including the localization industry • Departments and divisions from development to manufacturing, IT and marketing, etc. • C-level executives and managers to individual translators • Organizations regardless of size • Geographic regions
The SDL Automated Translation Survey is being conducted in association with the Association for Machine Translation in the Americas (AMTA – www.amtaweb.org) and the European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT – www.eamt.org) and is open until 22 December 2010.
As a thank you for taking the time to complete this year’s survey, participants can opt to receive a summary of the results and choose to enter a prize draw to win an Apple iPod.
