Designed specifically to address security and interoperability issues of SIP-based VoIP traffic, OpenScape SBC is architected for SIP trunking termination from multiple service providers, makes teleworker and contact center home agent deployment scenarios easy and cost-effective, and delivers secure connectivity from the enterprise data center to branch locations and hosted voice applications. OpenScape SBC is a way for OpenScape Voice customers to enable the cost-saving advantages of implementing SIP trunking and remote workers. Designed with low implementation cost in mind, it is deployed on industry-standard servers which provide customers with an aggressive return on investment. OpenScape SBC terminates a SIP session outside of the enterprise voice network, ensures the traffic originates from an authorized source and has no irregularities, and only then allows traffic to pass to the enterprise voice LAN. This process protects the voice network while still enabling fluid communication for enterprise, teleworkers, hosted services or branch locations. OpenScape SBC is also extremely scalable, supporting up to 4,000 simultaneous sessions on a single server, servicing potentially over 15,000 users. For organizations where business continuity is a requirement, it is available with both local and geographical redundancy options. It effectively manages the secure flow of voice traffic while maintaining superior quality and availability. Plus, with a per-user granular pricing model, it offers a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) in terms of licensing. "SIP-based communications will be ubiquitous one day, so SBC functionality must be as well," said Zeus Kerravala, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Research, The Yankee Group. "While most SBC solutions today only focus on telcos and large enterprises, OpenScape SBC is addressing the need to provide cost-effective SBC functionality to Siemens Enterprise Communication customers of all sizes." OpenScape SBC is designed to work specifically with the OpenScape Voice solution, with a graphical, unified management and administration interface. This makes implementation of the total OpenScape deployment quick and system administration simple and intuitive. Siemens Enterprise Communications will continue to offer SBC solutions from our partner Acme Packet for large to very large enterprise deployments and for organizations that have standardized on Acme Packet SBCs. "As a Siemens Enterprise Communications partner and service integrator, we want to insure that our customers have the appropriate security in place," said Jeff Graham, Chief Technology Officer, Shared Technologies. "We see this as a very strong addition to the OpenScape portfolio as it allows us to add further services value to our enterprise customers. The advantage of the OpenScape SBC is that it is designed to work seamlessly with OpenScape Voice, making it easier to deploy and manage as well as making it more cost-effective for the customer." OpenScape Session Border Controller is available now globally from Siemens Enterprise Communications and authorized channel partners. Related Groups
