Sound Telecom Employees Support Local Community and Habitat for Humanity

Seattle, Washington, Jan 30, 2012 -- The corporate office staff of Sound Telecom, a nationwide provider of telephone answering, call center and unified communication services supported Habitat for Humanity Seattle/South King County on January 11th and 12th at Habitat’s Rainier Vista Phase 2 project which involves the construction of 11 units located in the Rainier Valley area of Seattle, between Interstate 5 and Lake Washington.

Sound Telecom’s corporate office staff recently volunteered and assisted Habitat and other volunteers frame and side 4 of the 11 units being constructed at Habitat’s Rainier Vista project which is only 2 miles from Sound Telecom’s corporate office. Rainier Vista is one of the most culturally diverse communities in the country. The Rainier Vista project homes will be Energy Star Certified, meet Evergreen Sustainability standard of 50 or more points, meet Built Green 3-Star standards and will be LEED Gold Certified.

"Working for a day down at Habitat for Humanity was a hugely rewarding experience. The project leaders were well organized and helpful and the other volunteers were fun and enthusiastic," said Brian Gabriel, Sound Telecom’s COO. "What a great way to give back to the community by swinging a hammer and working with folks that really want to make a difference."

Donations of cash, volunteer labor and materials from individuals and organizations, allow Habitat to provide durable, decent affordable housing in partnership with low-income families. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their labor into building their Habitat house and pay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage. Habitat welcomes volunteers of all skill levels and interest who want to make a difference in their community.

"We will continue our volunteer efforts with Habitat to support our neighborhood and expect to expand our volunteer efforts to other communities throughout the USA where we have offices," said Michael LaBaw, Sound Telecom’s CEO. "We are also exploring other ways to assist Habitat Seattle/South King County as we feel it's one the better ways to revitalize our neighborhood, engage the community and have a positive impact on our neighbors."
