Don’t buy into the myth that your employees just want to sit around playing games and surfing the web all day. The reality is that workers long to feel productive, and they are motivated by an environment that allows them to perform at their peak. By implementing an effective network management system, you can ensure you are providing your employees with the necessary tools to meet their maximum potential.

If your digital infrastructure is poorly managed, costly work delays caused by network disruption may result. When your employees are unable to access the data they need at the speed at which they need it they can become frustrated. They may lose interest and disengage from their work. The time-suck of chasing data and waiting out slow system processes doesn’t just drain productivity, it also lowers morale.

Employees need to know that the systems they are working with support rather than hinder them. Providing a strong and well-maintained network means employees can reliably connect to and work within your system. Frustration is minimized; employees feel more productive, and in turn more satisfied, with their work experience.

Employees thrive when they believe they are contributing to team successes. In many companies individuals and departments collaborate on projects and tasks, which means data must be accessible to multiple people at once. Additionally, staff must be able to effortlessly connect and communicate with one another, which becomes even more important if collaborations exist across multiple job sites. Furthermore, with the explosive increase in the number of employees working remotely, networks must often extend past the walls of traditional worksites.

When you provide your employees with a strong, well-maintained network it improves teamwork and connection amongst collaborators, whether they are located down the hall or on the other side of the globe. Systems that are able to offer superior collaborative capacity are a necessity as jobs spread past traditional boundaries. The security of your system is crucial as well, as local and personal networks often do not have the level of encryption required for business data. Again, a well-run network system can give employees the speed and security they need to work together effectively, which in turn leads to greater happiness and job satisfaction.

When a company provides its employees with a reliably managed network system, it isn’t just productivity and connectivity that are boosted but also growth potential. While a sense of contributing may bring about its own fulfillment, an environment that encourages growth and development is more likely to provide employees with true job satisfaction. Employees want to engage with leadership in order to increase their skill set and advance within the company.

On a person-to-person level, when an organization’s leaders aren’t bogged down in managing IT crises they can devote more time to helping their employees grow and advance. Managers are freed up to design programs to foster learning, and they have the precious resource of more time in which to implement these initiatives. While a strong network can aid the administration of developmental programs by facilitating communications and providing improved access to data, its greater role in boosting employee advancement is in giving people the time to engage with each other and gain from this experience. Employees who are given additional training to increase their skill set experience a much higher level of job satisfaction than those who receive little to no coaching.

Technology brings more to your business than just efficiency and data security. If you are looking to increase happiness in your workplace, a well-managed network can do just that by boosting the productivity, collaboration and growth of your biggest asset – your employees.
