Yell Group plc - Appointment of Chief Executive Officer – Yell UK

June 29th 2011 - Yell today announces that Richard Hanscott has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Yell UK. Richard takes up his role on July 18 and will report to Yell Group Chief Executive Officer Mike Pocock.

 

Richard has extensive knowledge of the IT and telecommunications sectors, particularly mobile, and of building successful consumer and B2B businesses. His expertise covers telecommunications and computing products and services for small businesses and the home.

Richard was most recently Chief Executive Officer of NEC Germany and Vice President Network Solutions NEC Europe. Prior to NEC, he was at Orange from 1997 to 2006, in senior sales and marketing roles, including Vice President Business Development & Partnerships at Orange Group from 2003. His earlier career was spent at Hewlett-Packard and at several software development companies.

 

Richard took a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University. He is now a member of its Advisory Board, helping the university understand what industry needs from future graduates.

 

Mike Pocock said: “Richard brings the skills and experience necessary to help drive our transition to a customer-focused digital media business. This new appointment reflects the importance of our UK business both in its own right and as a key contributor to the Yell Group. I welcome his arrival as we launch our new strategy.”
