The First Start Setup

Once you have gotten your computer on, you will need to input your information. This includes things like your time zone, calendar, clock, and language. You may also need to create a login, which is required for Microsoft users. If you already have a Microsoft account, you can just log in or create one here. If you have an account, you can sync all your settings and wallpapers to your new device, making the setup process faster and more convenient.

If you don’t want to do this, you can create a local account. While this is not that easy, you can make the process simpler by disconnecting from your internet during the setup process. It is also possible to create multiple accounts on your computer so other people can use them. Keep in mind that you don’t have to do this right now. You can go back and add more accounts at any point.

Uninstall Unneeded Programs

If you have purchased a brand-name computer, you can feel confident that you will have certain programs on your computer. Some of the extras that may be present are completely useless. Vendors will install this under the guise that they are helping you; however, the truth is they are getting money from the software makers. While some of the top companies are reducing how much additional software is put on your machine, it will still be there. There are some fast and easy ways to eliminate this software, but you need to take time to do this. Along with making your machine run faster, you will also have more space for programs that you actually plan to use. Something to note is that you should not confuse these unwanted programs with trialware. This is actually a trial version of a type of software that you may want and that will remain active for a set amount of time. In some cases, keeping this will be worth it. After all, free is nice.

Install Security Shields

You must pay something to help protect your device from malware. There are more than a few options out there, and it really doesn’t matter what you choose; just be sure to choose something. It is best to find security software that will provide protection against malware, provide a firewall, and set you up with anti spam tools. Even if you don’t want to pay for it, you should find a free antivirus protection program. These don’t offer the comprehensive coverage that the paid versions do, but some protection is better than none at all.

Install All Updates

Updates are going to appear on your device from time to time. Make sure to install these right away. This will help keep your device safe and ensure that no one can get in through holes. If you fail to update, you are putting your machine and everything on it at risk.

If you want to ensure your computer is protected and ready to go from the first time you use it, be sure to use the tips and information here. This will help you get the biggest benefits from your computer and ensure that you do not run into any type of virus or malware-related issues. Being informed and knowing what to do is key to ensuring your computer runs well and issue-free.
