Outrageous - Teresa Brooks - ContactCenterWorld.com Blog
This is outrageous and there should be a penalty for taking jobs away from hardworking people and then sending the products back to them and expect for them to be able to afford the product that they no longer service:
T-Mobile in March announced that the center on Roble Road was one of seven being shuttered by the end of June. The center at one point employed 605 people, most of whom lost their jobs as a result of the closing. The company said at the time of the announcement that some workers would be offered relocation opportunities at company sites elsewhere.
"What T-Mobile failed to disclose is that calls that were taken here will now be handled by representatives based in the Philippines, Guatemala, Mexico and other countries." Potter said in a statement. "Whatever short term cost savings T-Mobile will realize, the taxpayers, customers and communities will all suffer as a result of this shortsighted decision."
Now this is a bill that we as hardworking call center agents need to support:
Congressman Tim Bishop (D-NY) is lead sponsor of the U.S. Call Center and Consumer Protection Act (HR 3596), to bar American companies that outsource call center jobs from receiving federal grants and loans for five years. Congresman Bishop said "I support the international development mission of USAID but my top priority is protecting American jobs and American taxpayers," said Bishop. "I anticipate working closely with USAID in a bipartisan manner to ensure that none of its programs overseas will hurt workers here at home."
