Nexsan E60 and E18 High Performance Storage Systems Awarded Symantec Backup Exec Certification

Symantec Certifies Nexsan Storage System Compatibility with Backup Exec 2010, 2010 R2 and 2010 R3

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., August 25, 2011 -- Nexsan®, a leading independent provider of disk-based storage systems, today announced that its Nexsan E60™ and E18™ E-Series storage systems have been certified by Symantec for compatibility with Symantec Backup Exec 2010, 2010 R2 and 2010 R3. The compatibility validation qualifies Nexsan E60 and E18 storage systems for use in Backup Exec environments including those that perform deduplication (via the Deduplication Option) and Granular Restore Technology (GRT).

“Symantec Backup Exec is a market leading backup software solution used by the lion’s share of enterprises around the globe,” said Victoria Grey, SVP, Marketing, Nexsan. “We are pleased to be certified in these pervasive environments and assure our customers of continued Backup Exec compatibility.”

Nexsan E60 and E18 storage systems are part of the Nexsan E-Series of expandable, high density and high performance storage solutions. Featuring the Nexsan Flexible Storage Platform™, the E60 and E18 deliver the enterprise-class storage management features mid-market customers need today, with the scalability to extend their solution for tomorrow. All Nexsan E-Series storage systems feature robust centralized storage management software for simplified deployment, management and support and offer a complete range of enterprise-class features including high density, high reliability, low power operation and small space consumption. The Nexsan E-Series also delivers an easy and quick out of the box experience by integrating reliable Nexsan storage hardware and E-Series intelligence.

Advanced technologies for energy efficiency and high density are also included with every E-Series storage solution including:

Active Drawer Technology™ – This revolutionary approach to extreme density simplifies the maintenance of a high density system by offering specially designed cables for continuous operation even when one of three self-contained drawers is momentarily opened. This allows a single person to perform maintenance such as replacing a fan or disk drive.

AutoMAID® Technology – This technology delivers “Speed with Green” for up to 85% reduction in power consumption without performance compromise for popular applications such as backup to disk and archiving. With the E-Series, AutoMAID is extended with Level 4 capabilities to enable even more power savings.
