Three Things You Didn’t Know You Needed - Sophia Belnap - Blog

Three Things You Didn’t Know You Needed

As you go through life, you start to learn things. Not only wise words that you can pass on to the younger generation as you age, but you also start to learn what is important to have in your life and what isn’t. Read on for three things you might not realize you needed – but once you have them, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without them.

A Favorite Way to Relax

Maybe you always wondered why your dad always went fly fishing, or why your mother kept on knitting all of those socks. It’s because having a way to relax is very, very important. Finding something you truly enjoy on your off time gives you something to look forward to, whether it be a hobby or just a way to forget about the world for a while (also, when you do find a way to relax, make sure that you have what you need, when you need it to do your relaxing, whether it be knitting needles or an airopro battery, so that you are ready to go!).

You may not think of yourself as a goal-oriented person, but if you’ve been feeling “adrift” lately, a goal can help. Do you want to save up for a house or for your dream car? Have you decided you want to be a vet or you want to own your own business? Or maybe your goal, for now, is just to get out of a job you don’t like and find one that you do. Goals don’t have to be huge and dramatic – you don't have to come up with a goal that will change the world. However, having a goal can help to give your life direction, and can improve your life over time.

You also don’t have to set a huge goal for it to really mean something. In fact, if you decide on a huge goal and then don’t meet it as soon as you like, it can only lead to frustration. Start with little goals and work your way up – if you want to save up for your dream car, start by setting aside a certain amount of each paycheck, or even opening up a savings account that is just for that purpose.

A Job You Love

You spend so much of your time at work, shouldn’t it be something you enjoy doing? If you have felt restless and depressed lately, it may be because of your job. Your job isn’t just a way to put food on the table; if you find the right job for you, it can actually be quite satisfying. Many people think that a job is just a paycheck, but for many that’s not necessarily true.

Your dream job doesn’t have to be a big, major, “important” job (that is, a job someone else considers “important,” like a doctor or a lawyer). If you love your work as a maid, it may not be the most glamorous job, and it may not pay the most, but if you love it, what does it matter? It can take some work and a lot of time to figure out what you really want to do, but in the end it will be worth it.

Take some time for yourself – to think about what your goals are, what kind of job you would actually enjoy going to everyday, and ways you can relax so that you have something to look forward to on your off hours. You may not have realized what a big difference these three things can make until you see how your life improves once you have them.
