5 Fictional Companies Our Telephone Messaging Service Wants to Answer For - A Courteous Communications - Blog

5 Fictional Companies Our Telephone Messaging Service Wants to Answer For

Our virtual receptionist team answers millions upon millions of calls each year for restaurants, hospitals, lawyers, plumbers, event planners and even a company that specializes in hot air balloon rides. The sky is the limit when it comes to providing elite call handling for our customers. And so, we thought it’d be fun to showcase the top 5 fictional companies our telephone messaging service would love to answer for.

5 Imaginary Companies our Telephone Messaging Service Would Love to Work For

1. Ghostbusters

If there's something strange in your neighborhood, who ya’ gonna call? That’s right, “Ghostbusters!” If we answered for this paranormal investigation and extermination service we’d proudly answer all of their calls within the first 2 rings, day or night. Because when you’re dealing with ghosts, it’s always an emergency.

Janine Melnitz, the designated in-house receptionist, was entrusted with answering the Ghostbusters’ business phones, keeping track of appointments and delivering ghost encounter messages. When their business started to become popular, Janine began to complain that she needed help.

Our virtual receptionist team would have jumped at the chance to help these famous parapsychologists with their high call volumes. We would have fielded all calls with compassion and expert caller control to prescreen all alleged ghost encounters. After qualifying the Ghostbusters’ calling leads, we could then complete a service order request before dispatching the call to Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston.

Our 24/7 emergency dispatch unit would’ve patched the emergency ghost orders straight to the Ghostbusters’ team in lightning speed. And with state of the art scheduling software, we could’ve placed the house or business service call right on the group’s shared calendar.

Janine was known for answering the incoming call with a cranky, “What do you want?” If A Courteous Communications was handling the Ghostbusters’ telecommunications, our approach would’ve been more focused on a pleasant customer service experience for each case.

2. Central Perk

The fictional coffee shop of F.R.I.E.N.D.S., as written, can be found on the streets of New York City (in Greenwich Village) near Monica's apartment. This bustling café is indeed fictional.

However it’s reported that in 2006, “Iranian businessman Mojtaba Asadian started a Central Perk franchise, registering the name in 32 countries.”

Other attempts have been made to make this faux café a reality. In celebration of the various anniversaries of the popular sitcom, there have been many pop up Central Perk cafés making a short appearance all over the world.

A perfect example of what our digital call center could bring to the well-known café is helping with calling customers’ frequently asked questions and relaying daily specials. Like in the episode, The One With Rachel’s Sister, we could let the caller know the prices they could expect:

“A muffin and espresso will only cost you $4.50. A double latte rings in at $2.75. If you’re in the mood for a scone and coffee, we’re running a combo special for only $4.25. A simple herbal tea is sold for just $1.25.”

Not only could we help with sharing Central Perk’s specials, but we could also take any calling reservations to sit upon the highly coveted orange couch. Can you imagine the cast of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. showing up for their daily coffee chat session to find their orange couch occupied? It actually did happen, one time, in this episode. Our virtual receptionists are equipped to take such table or (ahem) couch reservations.

3. Dunder Mifflin

If you’re a fan of the American television show, The Office, you’re familiar with the fictitious company where the quirky cast work. We know it as Dunder Mifflin but if you’re a fan of the original British series, you know the paper company as Wernham Hogg Paper Merchants. In yet another adaptation, the French Canadians call their hit show La Job, and the paper supply company is named Papiers Jennings and Cogirep.

Since our telephone message service is multilingual and we cover all time zones, we’d gladly accept the job to handle any of these versions of The Office. Being an American company ourselves, we want to focus on how we could help the Scranton office in their ongoing quest to beat out big store competitors.

We all have watched as the on-site receptionist, Pam Beesly-Halpert, constantly gets pulled away from answering business calls in the beginning seasons of the show. As an overflow, away from the office and after-hours answering service, our virtual receptionist team could easily be forwarded all business calls when Pam needs to step into a meeting.

Speaking of meetings, Regional Manager Michael Scott is always gathering the staff for silly little meetings, announcements and themed parties. With a live receptionist service, the downtime the employees constantly experience would never interrupt the office’s overall productivity. Our telephone agents could even process a client’s paper or office supplies order right over the phone.

Interested in really stepping into The Office’s pretend world? NBCUniversal made this website dedicated to Dunder Mifflin, Inc. The site even includes a monthly newsletter written by none other than Dwight Schrute.

4. Wonka Industries

Wonka Industries, a non-existent company was purported to be worth $21 Billion by Forbes back in 2007. We have a chocolaty dream of answering the lines for Mr. Wonka and his hard working team of Oompa-Loompas. Keep in mind that Wonka Industries should not to be confused with the very real company owned by Nestlé, The Willy Wonka Candy Company. Although, we wouldn’t mind helping their real customer service department with all incoming calls too.

Our professional virtual receptionists are the ideal telephone messaging servicefor Willy Wonka and his tightly guarded candy factory. Since we have complied with very strict confidentiality and security guidelines in the medical industry for 30 years, we know how to keep personal information protected. Mr. Wonka would be highly impressed with our ability to preserve his confidential candy recipes and unique inventions.

If you didn’t realize, the Wonka Factory has hundreds of rooms that are all dedicated to different processes within the candy making conglomerate. Our team would be able to direct all callers to the appropriate department for further assistance from that room’s supervising Ooompa-Loompa.

Most likely, Mr. Wonka currently retains an automated phone menu system that would sound something like this:

  • • Press 1 for The Chocolate Room
  • • Press 2 for The Inventing Room
  • • Press 3 for The Juicing Room
  • • Press 4 for The Egg Sorting Room
  • • Press 5 for The Nut Sorting Room
  • • Press 6 for The Furnace Room
  • • Press 7 for The Television Room
  • • Press 8 for The Gum Stretcher Room
  • • Press 9 for a list of all The Store Rooms
  • • Press 0 to repeat this menu

Although Willy Wonka is highly secretive, there’s nothing wrong with providing friendly and helpful 24-hour customer service for all his candy loving callers. Our virtual receptionists would love to keep his brand’s secrets hidden while keeping his reputation shining bright.

5. The Daily Planet

Located in the heart of make-believe city, Metropolis, the phones ring off the hook at the fictional newspaper, The Daily Planet. While it is said to be a subsidiary of Wayne Entertainment, The Daily Planet stands on its own two feet as a fictitious company that brings the most accurate and news breaking stories to their community.

Busy staff members, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White, could enjoy the freedom our virtual assistant services would bring to the crime reporting journalists. While Lois Lane is away from the office; busy with gathering facts and interviewing witnesses on the scene, we could be taking detailed messages for her to follow up on at her convenience.

As for Clark Kent, he would enjoy the confidentiality our team brings to the table. Screening all of his calls and compartmentalizing his phone messages; we could organize his schedule as the ordinary Clark Kent as well as the crime fighting Superman. Further concealing his identity, our virtual receptionists could patch through messages to the newspaper with leads ensuring no one discovers the true source of the news breaking tips.

Our digital call center offers electronic message delivering capabilities, real-time schedule management software and backup generators to ensure continuous phone coverage. With a redundant 24-hour virtual receptionist team, The Daily Planet could be confident they’d never miss an opportunity to be the first news team on any scene.

Do You Run a Real Company? Our Telephone Messaging Service is Here to Help!

We thank you for stepping into the world of imagination to see how we could help any business succeed with our award winning telephone messaging service. While these faux companies couldn’t benefit from retaining our virtual receptionists, your business can.
