Lync Voice Tip-o-the-Week #2 – Lync 2013 Mobile Client - Buchanan Technologies, Inc. - ContactCenterWorld.com Blog

DID YOU KNOW that you can use Microsoft Lync on your mobile phone to make and take calls, using both audio and video? No longer will you be chained at your desk like some kind of caged animal. You can be out on the golf course, answering calls made to your office phone and no one will be the wiser. Of course, that won’t fool someone who actually walks by your desk expecting to see you there, but I find a strategically placed store mannequin along with a 8×10 picture of yourself stuck to the face can go a long way.
So what are you waiting for? Download the Lync 2013 mobile client (yes, even if you’re using Lync 2010 on your desktop) from your mobile store:
iPhones & iPads
Android Phones (sorry not for tablets yet)
Nothing for Blackberry devices or your grandma’s flip phone.
If you get a warning about failing to connect to Exchange, you may have to specify Exchange credentials separately. Depending on your client, you’ll see an option that says something like “Enter your Exchange credentials”. Use “yourcompanyname\userID” and your password.
Keep in mind that if you’re on the go, mobile data charges will apply if you aren’t connected via wi-fi. If you want to ensure that audio or video (or both) calls are done via wi-fi only, you’ll find an option for doing so under Options (imagine that).
As I noted in my last post, the features I am covering in this series are only available if your Lync admin has enabled them. If you don’t have access to these features, you should partner with Buchanan Technologies to help you unlock Lync’s full potential.
