About the team
Dialpad’s Product Data Scientists bring together product expertise and advanced analytics skills to enable product teams to identify improvement opportunities that translate into new features and experiments. In this role, you’ll combine research, data science, data storytelling and experimental design (i.e A/B Testing) to create product insights that contribute to the product team’s decision making process.
Dialpad’s Product Analytics team plays an essential role in increasing awareness of the product features and user behavior that correlate with product adoption, product stickiness and trial conversions. This team collaborates closely with product managers, product engineers, product designers, and marketing to constantly evolve Dialpad’s products.
Your Role
Our Data team gathers insights from oodles of data using their innate curiosity and technical prowess—informing future products and helping our customers. You’ll work with a variety of teams across the company to provide counsel and recommendations on how to best drive forward global initiatives.
As a Sr.Director of Data Services and Solutions, you’ll lead a team of data experts - data engineers, data analysts and data architects that owns the entire data lifecycle (from data intake to generating and communicating insights in business terms). You’ll work closely with business partners from Finance, Product, Growth and Customer Success to use data that enables decision making in key initiatives (ie Churn reduction, Conversion and adoption optimization).
This position reports to our CIO and has the opportunity to be based in our Buenos Aires or US Offices.
What you’ll do
- Lead, guide, and support direct-report leaders, providing timely and meaningful coaching and feedback to drive company’s strategic data roadmap
- Serve as a model of servant leadership for your direct report leaders and peers
- Own the planning and execution of key data initiatives as well as supporting day to day data operations
- Foster strong partnership and collaboration with business leaders across Finance, Product, Growth and Customer success to ensure that data is leveraged and provide insights that create value for our business
- Research the variables/features that affect the company’s most relevant KPIs (e.g churn rate, trial conversion, product adoption, etc.)
- Own Data modeling: use best-in-class modeling techniques to design data pipelines and storage approaches for ease of ingestion, processing, or retrieval
- Own Data engineering: write easy-to-maintain code to process data through various ETL stages to create the data assets with integrity; leverage external partners as needed to accelerate development efforts to deliver a “single source of truth”; serve the needs of analysts as well as application developers or other system integrations
- Own Data quality/governance: ensure data management techniques such as catalogs, lineage, SLAs, and quality rules
- Own Data tools portfolio management: manage and maintain the right set of data tools to serve the data amp; analytics community (BigQuery, Domo, Amplitude,Segment.io, airflow, etc.)
- Communicate the vision, impact, and day-to-day accomplishments of your area – provide both macro strategic guidance as well as go deep on the specifics of a strategy and project
- Deliver high quality, rapidly iterating valuable work products from the teams across the train
- Work with vendors on the renewal of the data analytics tech stack.
Skills you’ll bring
- Eight plus years of experience leading data division, complex data projects and respective data teams
- Deep experience building and scaling high-performing teams, including developing senior leaders, managing data science, data analytics or related teams
- Years of hands-on experience in designing, architecting and developing data solutions (ETL, Modeling, Analytics or Reporting)
- Deep experience in architecting cloud based data-warehouse and data lake solutions (e.g. Postgres, Google BigQuery, etc.), powering data visualization platforms (e.g. Domo, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Excellent skill and experience with Python
- Highly proficient and experienced in SQL, with a long track record of building successful mission-critical data architecture and pipelines (BigQuery experience preferred)
- Experience automating data workloads with tools such as Airflow, Prefect, dbt, or similar
- Experience working with virtualization technologies including VMs and containers (Kubernetes experience a plus)
- Experience using and maintaining an integrated customer activity tracking platform such as Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, or similar tools
- Experience performing or leading analytics in a SaaS or other subscription-based revenue model business
- Excellent knowledge of SaaS metrics such as LTV, ACV, ARR, and others
- Strong knowledge of data governance and experience in successfully applying a governance framework in an enterprise setting
- Solid understanding of the functions of partner departments such as marketing, finance, sales, and software development
- Knowledge of and experience applying machine learning and other models to provide insight to stakeholders as well as to inform product features or business processes
- Experience with data security, data privacy and access control policies and methodologies/techniques to help enable them at scale

- Strong organizational skills and planning prowess, with excellent attention to detail.
