Darlington, UK, Nov 3, 2021 -- An app allowing residents to report issues to the council has been launched in Darlington.

The My Darlington app allows people to report fly tips, potholes and anti-social behaviour on their phone pinpointing exactly where the issue is on a map.

They can also send photos to show what the problem is.

The information will then be sent to the relevant team who can investigate and sort the problem.

The app, which can be accessed on a phone, tablet or desktop, can also be used make payments via a MyDarlington account and find out what is on the area.

Councillor Andy Keir, cabinet member for local services, said: "We know that 70 per cent of people who contact us electronically do so on a phone or tablet and this app will make it much easier for them to report problems when they are out and about and find out what is happening in their area.

"If someone comes across a pothole, fly tip or other issue they can tell us about it straight away, ensuring the problem is reported so it can be sorted"

Councillor Scott Durham, cabinet member for resources, said "The way residents want to do business with us is changing, which is reflected in the 22,000 residents who have a MyDarlington account.

"We are responding to that, to deliver effective and value for money services. The app, as part of our digital strategy, will make interaction easier.

"Residents who still want to ring us or make an appointment to come to the customer contact centre are more than welcome to do so.

"The app will mean a better service for everyone so I would urge as many people as possible to download and start using it."
