Haryana 112 Emergency Number Helps 2,788 Residents in First 64 Hours

Chandigarh, India, July, 2021 -- Dial 112, the State Emergency Response Centre (SERC) received 36,083 calls in the initial 64 hours starting from July 13, 2021, since its launch by Haryana chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar.

Additional director general of police, Telecom and IT, Arshinder Singh Chawla, who is also the Nodal Officer of Project Haryana 112, while addressing a press conference here on Friday said that the intention of the state government was to provide single point of contact for people for providing police assistance, fire and ambulance services. Haryana 112, is also working for other emergency services like helplines 100 (police), 101 (fire), and 108 (ambulance).

Chawla further clarified that the emergency calls on 100 (police), 101 (fire), and 108 (ambulance) are still functional and are also being managed from the Centralized Call Centre of Haryana 112.

He said that the key features of the Centre are its state-of-the-art system so as to provide quick police assistance by identifying the place of incident. He said that these Emergency Response Vehicles are upgraded with 22 additional equipment which can be of use in case of emergency.
