Is this the Most Ridiculous Reason for a 999 Call Ever?

West Midlands, UK, Aug, 2017 -- West Midlands Police are now urging people to think before they dial after the ridiculous emergency service call.

The Force Contact Centre took to social media to vent after the caller rang just after 11.10am to say a Dominos driver had knocked on their door at 3am by mistake to deliver a pizza.

A member of the public called 999 to complain about an incorrect PIZZA delivery at their home.

West Midlands Police are now urging people to think before they dial after the ridiculous emergency service call.

The Force Contact Centre took to social media to vent after the caller rang just after 11.10am on Wednesday to say a Dominos driver had knocked on their door at 3am by mistake to deliver a pizza.



They tweeted: "It may be frustrating when @Dominos_UK knock on the wrong door at 0300am.....but it’s certainly not a police matter. #ThinkBeforeYouCall."

Details of other time-wasting calls in the last week include someone ringing 999 to ask for a doctor, a row about the ownership over a wheelie bin and a man complaining he could not get a refund at LaserQuest.

WMP tweeted on July 28: "999 call received last night from a male complaining that Laser Quest had cancelled his booking & wouldn’t give him a refund.... #Think999.

"When advised that this was not a police matter, the caller then got further annoyed that we would not be attending. #YouCouldntMakeItUp."

On Thursday, exasperated call handlers tweeted : "101 call from someone reporting @RoyalMail delivering letters for someone else to their address. Not one we need to be kept posted on!"

The centre issued a warning back in May after they were bombarded with a string of idiotic calls when the security threat level was raised to critical.

People clogged 999 lines with complaints about spilt paint, a bale of hay on the pavement, a refund at Debenhams and a picnic in the park.

Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner, Head of Force contact said earlier this year: "At the moment our officers and staff are juggling a huge number of demands and we ask people to be patient and bear with us. Of course any suspicious behaviour or emergency should still be reported on 999 but we have limited resources and still get time-wasting calls.

"Recent examples of misusing the 999 system include calls about a shop not offering a refund, a picnic taking place in a park and spilled paint."
