NEC Provides Security Systems for Upcoming Sydney Coliseum Theatre


Sydney, Australia, Aug 20, 2019 -- NEC Australia has partnered with entertainment centre West HQ to deliver ICT and digital display technology to the upcoming Sydney Coliseum Theatre.

The Australian arm of the Japanese-based technology company will supply LED display systems powered by Cisco Vision IPTV for menus, way-finding and interactive customer promotions for the theatre.

NEC Australia will also provide LED display technology for a digital walkway, dubbed the "crystal bridge", which will use the technology in conjunction with glass flooring.

In addition, NEC will develop the theatre’s CCTV security systems, network infrastructure and free Wi-Fi systems.

Mitsuhiro Murooka, managing director at NEC Australia, said it has been "intimately" involved with the Sydney Coliseum Theatre’s design and construction.

"This really will be a centre of technological excellence, a world class venue with world class technology solutions, and a one-of-a-kind for Sydney," Murooka said

"NEC already has a strong relationship with Western Sydney in the Health and Education sectors, but this is an entirely new frontier for us – the possibilities now and into the future are boundless."

West HQ CEO Richard Errington said leveraging NEC’s technology will promote the precinct through its change of "pace, innovation, security and customer experience".

"We are incredibly excited about the relationship forged with NEC and are confidently looking to how we will evolve the partnership and do exceptional things for the arts and the community together," he added.

The Sydney Coliseum Theatre is planned to open on 12 December.
