Bhopal, India, April, 2021 -- In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases that has led to sharp increase in the demand for medical oxygen in Madhya Pradesh, state BJP along with social organisation ‘Sarokar’ has set up a free oxygen bank here the state capital.

BJP has also started a call centre and provided a toll-free number to help Covid patients and their families.

"We have dedicated 40 oxygen concentrators to the district administration to help Covid patients during emergencies. The party has also started a call centre and provided toll free numbers to patients to ease the availability of health facilities," said BJP state president V D Sharma, while dedicating the oxygen concentrators on Wednesday.

The oxygen bank set up by BJP state secretary Rahul Kothari has so far arranged 60 concentrators of which 40 arrived on Wednesday. He said patients in need of medical oxygen can be treated with the help of these concentrators.

"Amid growing demand for oxygen cylinders, the oxygen concentrators can be useful in mild Covid treatment for patients who are quarantined or in home isolation. This will meet the demand of a large number of patients who are seeking oxygen for two to three days. It will also give respite to several moderate and severe patients who are facing oxygen shortage," said Kothari.

Kothari said the oxygen bank has started functioning from Wednesday and will coordinate with the district administration for the supply of oxygen concentrators. Sarokar has also released a contact number 9522122133, where Covid patients and their family members can register for concentrators. BJP has set a call centre with the contact number 0755-6101112 and released a toll-free number, 1800-121-6557, for the public to get assistance related to health facilities.

"The party has launched its special drive ‘Seva hi Sangathan’ to help Covid patients and their family. Dr Abhijeet Deshmukh of BJP medical cell will coordinate with the call centre to help the public. People can take advice, seek help and solve their problems with the district administration through this centre," said Sharma.

BJP state general secretary Bhagwandas Sabnani said, "The government has contacted several industries manufacturing oxygen and set up four plants. Bina refinery near Sagar, where oxygen is available, a 1,000-bed Covid centre is being constructed".
