About Me, My Hobbies & Interests!

I am Duncan, I have been working for absa since 2009 as a temporary call center agent contract worker within the stop card division. In 2011 I was converted to a permanent employee of absa. I became the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the Stop Card division in 2013, during my time as the SME I developed an interest in the WFM (Workforce Management) area and I started upskilling myself in order to move into that area one day, I stayed after hours, came in before my shift and on my off days to buddy with members of the WFM team to acquire the skills needed. When a position opened up in that team, I applied for the position and went for an interview which I was then successful in. I moved into the WFM area in 2015 as an RTA (Real Time Analyst), Supervisor level. Suddenly the whole world of the contact center opened up to me and I realized how big it really is, but I enjoyed my role very much although it was very challenging and intimidating at first. I kept my head down and learned as much as I could and developed strong relationships along the way with various stakeholders from different areas. A time went on and I gained more experience and confidence in the role I then wanted to move on to the next level which was the WFM planned role, and that required a lot of skills building. While acquiring the skills I needed I applied for many positions and went for many interviews, which was not successful, but I kept on knocking on the door until finally in 2019 I was successful and moved into a Dialer System Analyst role-Management level within the sales area. The existing WFM planned for the sales area moved on and because I had skills as a WM planner, I was moved into the role as the WFM planner for the sales area and I am still happily fulfilling that role while still building further skills, knowledge and confidence as a WFM planner. Which I always wanted to become. . I have acquired a Higher Certificate In Banking (NQF5) as well as an Advanced Certificate in Banking (NQF6) and have applied to complete a Leadership in Management program at an NQF7 level.
