Many of us assume we know what incentives work best for our teams; however our motives are often different than that of our colleagues - as a Manager we may be interested in progression and recognition, whereas our subordinates may be motivated by different things. They could want money, a parking space, a promotion; choose their own rota, extra time off or one of many other things. Why not ask your team what they would like and build an incentive plan around their needs and desires not yours. At least then you will know what drives them on and they will want the reward!
