If your managers were away and supervisors manned your center, would they know what to do in the event of a power cut? Would they know what to do with a fire or other emergency? Don’t rely on just your knowledge, develop a complete back up plan and document what actions are to be taken depending upon the circumstances. This documented plan should also be easily accessible by all members of staff who are trained on how to use it. It should also be kept in a written ‘paper’ format and not stored on a PC – if the power fails then you can’t get access! Hopefully, you will never need to use the plan. But make sure you have one!
