ContactCenterWorld.com asked her to provide us with more insight into her as a person and her role as she takes us through A Day In The Life Of Nompumelelo Dlamini of MultiChoice South Africa.

I Woke up, fell out of bed…dragged a comb through across my hair whilst other days I leave my afro, I then found my way back to the kitchen and made myself a hot drink. I then bathed and picked out an outfit for the day. I looked good and smelled good, not forgetting to wear a smile on my face, then I made my way to Randburg (work) it’s in the North of Johannesburg.

What does a customer service professional do on a daily basis?

Firstly I should mention that there is no typical day in the world of a customer service professional. If you like variety and have a disdain for the routine then the customer service job might be for you. There are however, some typical activities that a successful customer service professional does on a regular, if not, on a daily basis.




Productivity. This is a performance generation business. If you don’t meet your daily stats you don’t meet your overall targets. If you don’t meet your targets that means that you will not get any generous incentives on offer as soon as the cycle closes. There are countless ways to meet your daily targets e.g. waking up and showing up for work. Having a positive energy goes with a positive flow and you know that you’re head is in the right space. Complying and generating all that you need on that day. There are many ways to get one-hundred percent on a daily basis, it’s like skinning a cat, and there are many ways to get it done.

How does a successful customer service professional, also known to be a warrior in my world, do all of this and more? This is through behaviour and always keeping an open mind. Attitude is key in your role. The equipment you make use of will help you. The product knowledge that you have is key.

It’s not an easy job. It never has been, but our top performing warriors know that the first step is to show up for your customer and in my world they are known to be Kings. And then once you have done that you will be able to better execute with flawless precision keeping your Kings happy and reaching the goal of a happy King.
