Article : Outsource like an Egyptian

By Ahmed Reda, Media and Communication Manager at the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency

Relying on international appreciation and eyeing global investments, Egypt participated in Call Centre Expo 2007, one of the biggest events for the contact center industry in the world. The unprecedented participation stresses a keenness to engage and a willingness to promote the Egyptian Outsourcing Industry.

The Information Technology Development Agency (ITIDA), the Egyptian entity responsible for the task of developing the IT industry in the country, headed a group of six major Egyptian companies to the prestigious call center fair in the UK.

The participants, under the umbrella of ITIDA, included Xceed, Raya Contact Center, Ecco, E- Group, DCS and C3 were located on a 70 meter space. These new emerging giants in the IT industry displayed their services and offered professional outsourcing services to international clients.

Egypt is already rising as a key off-shoring competitor internationally; according to the Global management consulting, firm AT Kearney that ranked Egypt in the 13th position worldwide in terms of top offshore outsourcing destinations.

Egyptian call centers provide the full range of inbound and outbound call center services. The highly motivated agents are specialists in Inbound traffic, Telesales, Customer Service & External help desk services as well as lead generation/qualifications, up-selling, cross-selling and more. Outbound agent-assisted service channels such as customer and market surveys provide for live agent interaction with customers using a variety of tools.

The Egyptian government is committed to boost the Contact Centre industry and foster its export potentials. The government is working closely with the Egyptian industry association to promote the Contact Centre industry through MCIT’s Contact Centre Industry Initiative, a joint effort between various stakeholders to reach policies and action plans that meet the industry’s requirements.

Egypt's aggressive focus on developing an excellent IT and communications industry bodes well for Contact Centre outsourcing and proves that land of the pharaohs is the new attractive call centre destination for global business leaders.
