Exclusive Interview With Cheryl Paul Abdullah from AIA Malaysia
Can you tell us about the company you work for, the center you work in and your role?
I work for AIA Malaysia, a leading insurer in Malaysia, where we have been doing business since 1948. We offer a full suite of products for our customers. We are part of the AIA group, the largest Pan-Asian life insurance group. I Head the Contact Centre for AIA Malaysia which has150 seats.
Which Top Ranking Performer Award(s) did you enter and why did you choose it/them in the first place?
I entered the Best Contact Centre (Mid-sized). I chose to enter this award as winning it would be the best reward and motivation not just for me but my team as well. That is axtewm award and winning it means we have and are the best !
You won one or more medals - how do you feel about being a champion?
It feels awesome as this is a global association which is the best and most respected in the industry. Winning this means a lot for AIA and for me.
Can you tell us about the sense of pride you have now that you won a medal for your company and counttry?
I am extremely proud of this because it is not easy to win and because there are many things that are being judged and scored. Getting a medal means AIA Malaysia is doing the right things.
How does your company justify your involvement in this process? i.e. how do they know its valuable enough to participate?
The website gives tons of material to justify the involvement to us. We were also confident of winning something and getting acknowledgement from the industry is good.
For those who are considering entering these awards, what would you say to those who are not sure about the value of these particular awards?
This is the Best of the Best. The method of judging is completely unbiased and I strongly recommend this above anything else you may be thinking of entering.
Lastly, as you have been to one of our events, how would you describe the ideas from fellow presenters - imagine you are writing a paragraph to encourage others to attend the entire event!
There is no way to describe the value of listening to peers across the region and the world on running their centres. The atmosphere is also very warm and encouraging. A good platform for your staff and you to learn how to present and win!
