News : 385 Layoffs at Minacs Call Center in Farmington Hills
Farmington Hills, MI, USA, Jan 14, 2016 -- The Minacs Group will be laying off 385 employees at its Farmington Hills office.
The company reported the pending layoffs last week to state officials. These permanent layoffs are scheduled to occur March 10 and are the result of "a client's unanticipated withdrawal and transfer of business to an internal client location to reduce costs," according to a WARN Act notice.
Selina Mitchell, a recruiting team leader for Minacs, said Thursday that the departing employees work in the call center and represent a small portion of Minacs' workforce at 34115 W. Twelve Mile Road. She did not know total employment numbers for the site.
"It has certainly not been an easy decision for us," Tim O'Brien, head of human resources for Minacs North America, said in a statement. "We are working closely with the impacted employees to make them aware of open positions on other campaigns in Farmington Hills, and in our other southeast Michigan locations."
Minacs is a business and technology outsourcing provider for industries including manufacturing, retail, banking, health care and the public sector. The company claims about 21,000 employees worldwide across 35 centers. Along with Farmington Hills, its other main offices are in Canada and India.
