News : 48,884 Complaints Received by MCD from Jan 2014-Aug 2015
New Delhi, India, Aug 11, 2015 -- The BJP-led three municipal corporations received altogether 48,884 complaints from January 2014 till August 5 this year, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
"A central control room has been set up for the North and South Corporations for registering complaints through toll-free landline numbers.
"The complaints (NDMC and SDMC) received from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 was 28,040 while from January 1, 2015 to August 3, 2015, 16,944 complaints were received," Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
The complaints received were generally related to public amenities such as sanitation, encroachments, unauthorised constructions, stray animals, waterlogging, among other issues.
"A call centre has also been set up for the East Delhi Municipal Corporation...2,617 complaints were received from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 while from January 1, 2015 to August 5, 2015, 1,283 complaints were received," he said.
In reply to another question, the minister said, no separate funds have been provided exclusively for building sanitation and public facilities in SDMC for the use of women and poorer people who don't have access to such sanitation and toilet facilities.
