News : 6 More Strike Days Announced at HGS in Liverpool

#contactcenterworld, @teamhgs

Liverpool, England, Aug 24, 2022 - PCS has announced six more strike days at Hinduja Global Solutions in Liverpool.

Our members, employed by HGS to run the contact centre and back-office functions of the government’s Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will take action from September 5 to 10.

They were previously on strike from August 15 to 20. Only 2 of the 96 workers are not PCS members, so the service to customers was severely disrupted.

The strike, which was supported on the picket line by local Labour MPs Paula Barker, Ian Byrne, Dan Carden and Kim Johnson, has also caused serious reputational damage to the company, which is owned by the richest person in the country, Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, who has a personal wealth of more than £24.5 billion.

The company has refused to improve its original 3.25% pay offer.

PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka said: "Our members are rightly angry at being told to accept a below-inflation offer while the Hinduja family live in luxury in one of the most expensive houses in the country, just round the corner for Buckingham Palace.

"They’re struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, so we call on the Hinduja family to do the right thing and pay them at least the Living Wage."

PCS has also demanded improvements to working conditions, including a commitment to paying at least the Living Wage Foundation of £9.90 an hour, pay when sick, an annual leave entitlement of 27 days, paid breaks and job security.

You can show support for the strikers by signing our petition. which also sends an email to the CEO of HGS asking him to negotiate with the workers for fair pay.
