News : A Busy Start for Helpline with More Than 700 Queries
Dublin, Ireland, Aug 13, 2015 -- The annual Exam Helpline got off to an extremely busy start yesterday with 320 calls, which involved guidance counsellors dealing with a total of 745 queries.
Concerns of students and parents ranged from applying for a recheck of an exam grade, to options for those who failed higher level maths.
The free phone helpline - 1800 265 165 - will run again today from 10am-7pm and tomorrow from 10am-1pm.
Following the release of CAO Round One offers, it will operate on Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18, 8am-7pm and Wednesday, August 19, 8am-1pm.
The unique National Parents Council post primary (NPCpp) helpline is sponsored by the Irish Independent, Eircom and the Department of Education and Skills.
As well as members of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, a representative of the grant- awarding body, SUSI, is also available to deal with queries.
