Manila, Philippines, July, 2019 -- The domestic call center industry will be the first to feel the surge of artificial intelligence in the country, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
According to DTI undersecretary Rafaela Aldaba, the arrival of AI and the nationwide use of robots and machines will affect the local business process outsourcing sector.
Aldaba said more than 1,000 call-center workers could be affected and relieved from their jobs, especially since some companies in the country are already using AI, such as procedural answering machines.
The country, according to Aldaba, must introduce educational courses, such as data science and AI programming, in colleges and universities to prepare the country to face new technology.
