News : ACCO Announces New Call-center Facility with 25 Job Openings
Delhi, NY, USA, February, 2016 -- A new call-center facility in Sidney will bring 25 full-time jobs to the ACCO plant.
The Delaware County Industrial Development Agency and ACCO Brands Corporation announced a project Thursday that will create 10 jobs within a call-center facility at the ACCO administrative building, as well as 15 new production-related jobs generated through manufacturing and distribution operations.
ACCO, which manufactures branded office products, acquired the Sidney facility in 2012 as part of a merger with MeadWestvaco’s Consumer & Office Products business. The project will bring the workforce to 675 employees. A 2014 expansion added 25 full-time hourly positions.
According to the release, ACCO Brands approached the Delaware County IDA in regards to an opportunity to compete for the establishment of a small call center facility which would additionally lead to the creation of new production positions. The IDA responded with a loan to offset the investment by ACCO Brands, with the potential for loan forgiveness contingent upon ACCO Brands meeting certain job creation benchmarks.
"I appreciate the efforts of James Thomson and Glenn Nealis of the Delaware County IDA for working with our company to secure the additional jobs," Jeffrey A. Almasian, general manager of ACCO Brands’ Sidney operations, wrote in the release.
"It is imperative for us to try to assist our local businesses in being able to compete for new opportunities that will support their growth and long-term sustainability in Delaware County," IDA Chairman James Thomson said in the release.
