News : Agri Implements Service Centres for Farmers
Hunsur, Karnataka, India, Jan 22, 2015 -- Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said, the government will be setting up 180 agriculture implements service centres across the State, for the benefit of farmers facing shortage of labourers.
Launching works for the construction of Raitha Samparka Kendra, he said, the government, which has understood the problems faced by farmers due to non-availability of labourers has decided to set up such centres on a pilot basis. The centres that would lend various types of agricultural implements on hire and will even benefit small farmers.
Due to reasons like drought, labourers have found alternative methods to improve their financial status, which has led to a slump in human resources. Hence, cultivation using modern implements will be a boon to the farmers, as it would reduce the costs by 50 per cent, the Minister said.
Under the first phase, 180 centres will be opened, which will be extended to all hoblis if it is a success, he added.
Each centre will have implements, contact centre, shops selling fertilisers and a godown.
