News : All-aid Women's Helpline Number 181 is Helping Women in UP to Become Self-reliant

Lucknow, India, March 26, 2021 -- There are several helpline numbers operating in Uttar Pradesh to rescue women caught in scenarios of distress, physical threat or abuse and one such helpline, 181 for domestic abuse against women is gaining pace rather these days. Under the state's Mission Shakti programme for women empowerment, the 181 toll-free helpline is not only offering aid, relief and short term stay to abused women but also is re-routing them towards employment, self-reliance and dignity.

Helpline 181 is pushing the agenda of Mission Shakti to new heights

The 181 Helpline has trained officers and counsellors who are working relentlessly to help women overcome situations of domestic abuse and other such scares. All women, dealing with physical and/or mental stress due to any trouble or harassment can ring up the toll-free 181 helpline and ask for assistance or advice. If the situation can not be solved by talks, prompt police support, or a counsellor would be provided for further help.

Besides immediate aid, 181 counsellors are constantly advising these troubled women about all relevant government welfare and employment schemes which they can avail. A lighthouse for women, 181 is setting women on the path of self-reliance, financial independence and general well-being, thereby assuming a pivotal role in progressing the agenda of Mission Shakti in UP - security, dignity and self-employment - to newer heights.

So far, it has assisted about 16,075 women via the centralised all-in-one state helpline number UP-112. Out of these, around 593 women have been informed about how to avail government schemes for betterment, elevate their social status.
