News : Alorica Hiring about 200 Employees in Topeka by August
Topeka, KS, USA, June 9, 2016 -- Alorica Inc., which has a Topeka call center, announced last week it would acquire Expert Global Solutions, significantly expanding its national and international business. Along with growing its global presence, the Topeka call center is adding employees to meet client demand.
Ken Muche, spokesman, said Alorica is aggressively hiring in the Topeka market. Currently, the company employs about 395 people locally, up from 180 people in February 2015. By August, the company expects to employ about 600 people.
In a news release about the acquisition of EGS, Alorica said the new company will have 91,000 employees in 154 locations in 16 countries.
With the EGS purchase, the company will have 38,000 employees outside of the U.S. market, primarily based in the Philippines and Latin America. Alorica founder Andy Lee will be CEO and chairman, as well as majority shareholder, of the new organization, based in Irvine, Calif.
There is enough room to handle the increased number of employees at the company’s current location, 115 S.W. 29th St., Muche said. Currently, about 3 percent of Alorica’s Topeka employees are part-time, and the remainder are full-time. Once more employees have been hired, about 10 percent will be part-time, and 90 percent full-time, Muche said.
The number of Alorica employees goes up and down throughout the year, responding to seasonal work, the loss or addition of clients or when customer support for one client moves from one call center to another.
Muche said Alorica employees are diverse in their careers, and Alorica has lawyers, students, engineers and school teachers working in their facilities. "You walk through these offices and you see this huge age range of folks, from high school to retired or semiretired," he said.
