News : Amazon Hiring Arizona Workers for At-home Jobs
Oct 16, 2013 -- Amazon.com is hiring Arizona workers for $10 per hour for at-home support jobs that will help customers with Kindle and other service issues this holiday season.
The Internet retail provider said employees will save money on commuting, meals and work clothes by working at home.
Applicants need to have a desktop PC — no Macs, laptops or tablets — as well as have Ethernet Internet connections and a telephone land line. Amazon also wants the at-home workers to be able to takes call away from residential noise such as barking dogs, nagging spouses or crying children. They may also need to be available for night and weekend shifts.
The company is hiring statewide. Workers just need to make it to a training session orientation in Tucson.
"We’re actively hiring now," said Amazon spokeswoman Kelly Cheeseman. She said the company already has the at-home call center jobs in Washington state and Oregon.
The Washington state jobs also start off at $10 per hour. Oregon jobs have a base pay of $11 per hour, according to Amazon’s online jobs board.
Cheeseman said the Arizona at-home jobs can be seasonal, part-time or full-time. She said they are aimed at work-at-home and temporary workers such as college students, stay-at-home parents and military spouses.
She did not say how many Arizona at-home call center workers Amazon planned on hiring.
The Seattle-based company has physical operations in the state in Goodyear, Tempe and Phoenix.
Earlier this month, Amazon announced it was hiring 70,000 seasonal workers for this year’s holiday season.
Arizona — especially the Phoenix area — is already home to a number of call centers including for insurance companies, banks and retailers.
