News : Amazon Set to Open their First Physical Store, in New York
Oct 9, 2014 -- Shopping at Amazon has always been an online experience. But that might be about to change.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Amazon will open its first ever physical store opposite the Empire State building in New York, just in time for the Christmas rush.
The aim of this new store will be to deal with same day deliveries, returns and exchanges, as well as a way of housing a small inventory of products for customers who want an immediate purchase.
There are also suggestions the store could be a way for Amazon to show off its growing range of hardware devices.
The move would follow in the footsteps of the likes of Apple and Samsung, who have used retail stores to enhance customer experience, and give potential customers the chance to discuss products face-to-face with the firm.
Amazon’s Mayday video call help centre has done that to some extent – enabling users to get in touch with the call centre when they have an issue, directly from their device, and see who their talking to.
This, it appears, is the next step up.
