West Valley City, UT, USA, Aug 10, 2016 -- American Express has announced it will lay off at least 150 people from its call center in West Valley City.
According to company spokesman Daniel Clayton, 250 people were laid off Tuesday from the company's Global Servicing Network department. However, Clayton said, roughly 100 jobs with similar pay and benefits will shift to home-based positions and will likely be filled by many of those newly laid off employees.
The net job loss anticipated for Utah is estimated between 150-170, Clayton said. He said those jobs will be eliminated entirely and not outsourced somewhere else.
Clayton said American Express does not plan to close its West Valley City facility at this time, but he would not speculate about the future.
