News : Another ICT Company Eyeing Local Investment
May 20, 2013 -- An information technology firm is interested in putting up a branch at the Negros First CyberCentre as part of its expansion program, Bacolod City Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, said yesterday.
Sigue, chairperson of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Educational Foundation for ICT, said that Wipro Philippines is evaluating the potential of Bacolod its third site
An IT firm specializing on health care, Wipro Philippines has two firms in Cebu and another one in Quezon City, its website showed.
If Wipro Philippines pushes through with its plan it is set to hire 600 registered nurses to fill the vacant positions, Sigue said.
She said Wipro will inform them whether it will be pushing through with its plans within the year.
Although the inauguration of the cyber center is scheduled in July yet, Ubiquity, the first call center locator at the Negros First Cyber Center is scheduled to move in at the end of the month.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the proposed ordinance creating the micro, small and medium enterprise development council of the city on third and final reading last week, its author Sigue, said yesterday.
Sigue said that functions of the development council include assisting and formulating policies and initiate projects in support of the development of MSMEs business enterprises under the magna carta for the group.
The city mayor or his duly authorized representatives will represent the Bacolod MSMEs development council in all meetings and programs of the Provincial MSMEs development council.
