News : Anti-ragging Helpline Number in Ranchi University Prospectuses
Ranchi, India, March 29, 2016 -- All colleges under Ranchi University have decided to mention the toll-free anti-ragging helpline number in their prospectuses as well as websites from the new academic session.
The move follows a University Grants Commission notification that prompted the university to direct all constituent and affiliated colleges to publicize the national helpline number.
"Students from any part of the country can use the toll-free number that is available in 12 languages," said vice-chancellor Ramesh Pandey. The helpline number will be put up on notice boards.
The university has also decided to add muscle to the anti-ragging cells in its colleges and run campaigns to make students aware of the existing laws.
RU is also mulling an anti-ragging helpline of its own and counselling sessions for freshers.

"Our helpline will be exclusively for RU students. Also, counsellors will interact with students to find out if they are facing any problem on the campus," he added.
There are plans to organize orientation programmes on college rules and regulations for newcomers and their parents.
"The sessions will be organized before the classes start," the VC said.
